At IEEE OES, we recognize the importance of expanding collaboration and engagement, and we are proud to support IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) in its mission to facilitate the global recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines.

WIE Propel Program

About

The IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) recognizes the importance of fostering a vibrant early-career and gender-diverse community within its global membership. The Young Professionals (YP) and Women in Engineering (WIE) programs serve as key platforms for enabling this engagement. This manual outlines the structure, selection processes, responsibilities, and engagement mechanisms that guide the functioning of the YP and WIE programs.

The 2-year ambassador program is structured to enhance continuity in leadership, promote engagement-driven participation, and consolidate communication efforts. The intent is to make the programs more dynamic, inclusive, and impactful, providing clear pathways for leadership development and sustained contribution within the Society.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Organize panels/events during flagship conference & other OES activities.
  • Contribute to OES-SYP Newsletter.
  • Curate relevant job opportunities on the website.
  • Represent the voice of WIE in relevant IEEE and OES forums.
  • Submit at least 2 Beacon articles per year in consultation with the respective coordinators.

Ambassador Nomination Process

Eligibility & Sources

Applicants need to be endorsed by one of the following:

    1. OES Chapter Chairs,
    2. Technology Committee Chairs,
    3. OES ExCom Member,
    4. OES AdCom Member,
    5. IEEE Senior member/ Fellow/ Life Member.

Required Documents

    1. CV (2 pages max)
    2. Statement of Interest (must include OES/IEEE volunteering history)
    3. Endorsement letter/email

Deadline: 31st October of each year.
Start Date: 1st January of the following year.
