OCEANS 2020 Singapore to go Virtual:

Many of you would have spent days in writing up your research works in preparation for presenting it at the conference. The LOC and OSC felt that our inability to host a physical conference should not stop your research work from going unnoticed. So, we are preparing to host a virtual conference. All the delegates would have by now received a feedback form from the Technical Chair requesting your interest to present your work in the virtual conference. Details on the technical programme, exhibitor opportunities and the registration fees for the delegates etc., will be posted on the conference website soon. Please check back regularly for updated information.

As you may well be aware, the COVID-19 pandemic appears to have stabilized in some parts of the world and some economies have even started to open their businesses in a restrictive way. It is still wreaking havoc in some other parts of the world, though. In Singapore, the COVID-19 cases have been on the rise for the last couple of weeks with a daily average of 700+ infections and this is predicted to continue till the end of May. More than 90% of these infections are among foreign temporary workers who have since been well isolated. The spread among the local community has been well contained and remains in single digits now. The city state is observing a ‘Circuit Breaker’ with most of us working from home until June first. The Government plans to ease some of the restrictions afterwards. We believe that the ‘OCEANS’ should be experienced in a much more relaxed environment and hence the above decision.
